Vintage life

A few years ago, it wouldn’t even cross my mind to go to a vintage shop. I was always sure that I won’t find there anything for me. Fortunately, people change . :)When my aunt (yes- the one that deals with my hair) bought me a grey oversized shirt, I thought that maybe it’s worth checking out some vintage shops and so I did. Since then I try to do it regularly. I’m sure I don’t have to tell you what unique clothes and accessories you can find there. Sometimes it takes a lot of time to find them, sometimes you immediately spot something interesting. In Bytom, our hometown, you can find a few nice second-hand shops but in general, in Poland (or at least in Silesia), there’s still lack of vintage shops that would sell designers’ clothes. When I worked in Stockholm, I visited this kind of places very often and I really fell in love with them. I hope that we’ll have more vintage shops of this kind in our country in the future. In the meantime, please shut down your computers and go conquer the traditional vintage shops. I’m sure you won’t regret it. :) Good luck!

Beneath you can find some of my treasures :)

Stuffed zucchini with spinach, cherry tomatoes & homemade walnut pesto

The abundance of fresh fruit and vegetables is one of the best things that happen to us during spring and summer. Thanks to that it’s possible to experiment in the kitchen and prepare light and healthy meals, Searching for some inspiration on culinary blogs I found this recipe for a stuffed zucchini with spinach, cherry tomatoes & homemade walnut pesto (no worries, it only looks complicated, in fact it’s quite simple). I guess that my version of it wasn’t as tasty as the one prepared by the authors of the blog but I still strongly recommend it to everyone who likes this vegetable. :)

Make up faves – Make Up Forever, High Definition Powder

Sprawdzone!

It’s an undeniable fact that I have a problematic skin which also tends to be dry and shiny at the same time. You can imagine that dealing with such a face can be quite a challenge.  So far, the only cosmetics that can cope with it are: Revlon’s foundation (that deserves a separate post which will appear on the blog soon) and Make Up Forever High Definition powder. The latter, thanks to its fine texture, brilliantly smooths and matifies skin (for at least 6 hours !). Despite the fact that it’s white, it works for all skin tones . What is more, the product is super-efficient, just a small amount is enough to cover up the face. Plus, it evens out all imperfections, doesn’t dry the skin and sets the make-up. The only disadvantage may be the price (around 40 euros). However, in my opinion, it’s worth spending so much money on a product like this. You can also purchase the smaller version (5g) which costs around 20 euros. It’s definitely worth checking out!

Tip: High Definition Powder turns all eyeliners into waterproof ones! Just sprinkle a bit of the product on the applicator.

Cheers!

All Shades of Blue

Bardziej wiosenna niż letnia temperatura pozwoliła mi ubrać ulubioną marynarkę i dopasować do niej ukochane conversy.

Udanego weekendu! (zaczynają się przeceny, yay!)

The weather today was finally better than during the last days and it was quite sunny so we decided to make use of it and shoot in the park. The temperature was more spring than summerlike so I could wear my favourite blazer and match it my beloved converse sneakers.

Have a great weekend! (the sales season is officially here, yay!)

Time for soups!

When last year we decided to change our lives for better when it comes to diet and sport, we weren’t the best cooks (to say the least). A lot has changed since that time; we still have to learn many things and our experiments in the kitchen often turn out a catastrophe but it’s much better than it used to be! One of the dishes that we really enjoy making are soups, especially creams. They’re easy to prepare, healthy and oh-so-tasty, and at the same time they give a whole lot of possibilities. Today we’re going to show you two creams which we like very, very much.

Krem z brokułów:

Składniki:

2 marchewki
2 korzenie pietruszki
1 seler
2 ziemniaki
1 litr bulionu
1 duży brokuł (można dodać więcej, wtedy smak będzie bardziej intensywny)
Świeżo starta gałka muszkatołowa (około 2 łyżeczki)
Sól, pieprz do smaku

Opcjonalnie do wyboru:
Łyżka śmietany
Świeżo starty ser żółty
Grzanki
Kilka listków świeżej bazylii

Przygotowanie:
Do garnka z bulionem i warzywami dodajemy ugotowane brokuły, wszystko razem miksujemy i doprawiamy solą i pieprzem. Na koniec dodajemy gałkę muszkatołową. Krem z brokułów można jeść na wiele sposobów. Dobrze smakuje z utartym serem lub z grzankami. Ja najbardziej lubię jeść go z łyżką śmietany i świeżą bazylią.

Cream of broccoli soup

Ingredients:

2 carrots

2 parsley’s taproots

1 (or ½) celery root

2 potatoes

1l chicken stock

1 big broccoli (you can add more, in which case the taste is going to be more intense)

Freshly grated nutmeg (around 2tsp)

Salt, pepper

Optionally:

Toasted bread

1tbsp cream

Grated cheese

A couple of fresh basil leaves

Preparation:

Chop the broccoli and cook it in delicately salted water (you can add a little bit of sugar) without a lid until it becomes soft. In the meantime, boil the stock, add chopped vegetables and cook them as long as they also become soft. Add the broccoli into the pot with the rest of the vegetables, blend and season with salt and pepper, then add the nutmeg. Cream of broccoli can be eaten in diverse ways. It tastes good with grated cheese or toasted bread. My favourite combination though is the one with cream and fresh basil.

Notice: You really don’t have to have the same proportions as the ones I presented here. Normally, when I prepare this soup, the number of ingredients I use depends on how many of them I have at home, and still it always tastes great.

Zupa kalafiorowa z glazurowanymi marchewkami

Składniki:

nieduży kalafior
0,5 l bulionu
0,5 l mleka
pęczek młodej marchewki
2,5 łyżki startego sera żółtego
łyżka miodu
25 g masła
łyżka posiekanej natki pietruszki
pieprz, sól
gałka muszkatołowa

Przygotowanie:

Marchewka glazurowana:
Umyte marchewki obieramy i kroimy wzdłuż.

Cauliflower soup with glazed carrots

Ingredients:

Medium- sized cauliflower

0,5l chicken stock

0,5l milk

1 bunch young carrots

2,5tbsp grated cheese

1tbsp honey

25g butter

1tbsp chopped parsley

Salt and pepper

Nutmeg

Preparation:

Chop the cauliflower, put it in a pot, add hot chicken stock and milk. Boil everything and then simmer for 10-15 minutes. After taking it off the oven, add grated cheese and blend. Season everything with salt, pepper and nutmeg.

Glazed carrots:

Peel the carrots and cut them into lengths. Boil the vegetables for no longer than 10 minutes (the carrots shouldn’t be very tender). On a frying pan, melt butter and honey. Add the carrots and parsley and fry it for a while. Stir them from time to time in order to cover all the vegetables with the glaze.

Serve the cauliflower soup with glazed carrots. You can put them on a separate plate or into the soup. I prefer the second option as it gives the dish a unique taste.

Stay awesome!
