Orange Warsaw Festival

This year I accidentally managed to go to Orange Warsaw Festival. My plans were completely different but Limp Bizkit played on it and because of the fact that, despite all the controversies, the band’s extremely important to me, I decided that I had to be there. It was definitely worth it cause I managed to get to the first row and Fred almost stood on my palm while singing in the crowd.

When I compare Orange Warsaw Festival with other events of this kind I’ve been to, I have mixed feelings. I loved the huge number of stands with food offering everything you could think of (from a hundred types of hamburgers, through pancakes with caramel, to vegetarian, Mexican and Polish dishes), stands promoting local clothes’ brands as well as galleries and numerous attractions like the silent disco. There was so much of everything that you really didn’t have to attend any concerts to enjoy yourself. However, merchandise and catering are not enough. The festival took place on a national stadium, which for me is a shitty thing cause it kills the spirit of this kind of events which should, in my opinion, be always organized in an open space. Because of that, the atmosphere wasn’t really the way it should have been, there were no tents, there was no water or grass and you couldn’t sense this amazing feeling of mellowness and freedom. Instead, there were concrete and people all over the place. But okay, let’s say that I can accept all this. The stadium needs money so as many events as possible have to be organized there. The real problem was the sound system. During the Limp Bizkit concert, the bass was so heavy that my chest was literally jumping (I obviously stood in front of the loud speaker) and from time to time I couldn’t even hear vocals or drums. When it comes to concerts which took place on the stadium itself (the organisers decided to close the roof for the occasion), the sound reverberated in such a way that it was impossible to hear anything on tribunes. It didn’t bother me during concerts of bands like 1975 (I probably shouldn’t write it but for me they’re the worst band of the year, terrible, just terrible), but I definitely wanted to listen to Outkast and Miles Kane in normal conditions. You can hear about the problems with the sound system every year so I guess it’s high time the organisers did something with it cause it’s one of the key elements of these type of events.

Okay, enough nagging. Despite the terrible sound and weather, I had a great time and I definitely don’t regret going there. After all, it was the first (and probably the last, cause I don’t like this kind of music) occasion to be on a concert of David Guetta and I have to admit that losing control and jumping with a couple of thousands of other people to techno music was an interesting experience ;)
