Sea Salt Texturing Spray by Toni & Guy

Dziś będzie krótko i konkretnie. Na tym blogu to Dorota jest specjalistką od kosmetyków do włosów, ale dziś Was zaskoczę i to ja napiszę coś na ten temat. Jakiś czas temu postanowiłam wypróbować Sól Morską firmy Tony & Guy o nazwie  (no dobra, Dorota mi ją poleciła, ale to ja piszę o niej post!). Jest to cudo, które ma za zadanie dawać efekt włosów jakie mamy na plaży: muśniętych słońcem, wiatrem i morską bryzą. I faktycznie, taki efekt daje. Najczęściej używam tego kosmetyku, kiedy mam tzw. bad hair day. Po nałożeniu wciąż wygląda to na bad hair day, ale kontrolowany i w miarę ogarnięty. Ja lubię takie nie do końca ułożone i wymuskane fryzury, więc nieład, jaki otrzymujemy po użyciu Soli Morskiej bardzo mi się podoba. Polecam go szczególnie na dni, kiedy nie mamy czasu na bawienie się w wałki, szczotki czy prostownice, a chcemy jakoś wyglądać. Wystarczy podsuszyć lekko włosy, popsikać je dokładnie sprayem i ugniatając stworzyć porządane fale jednocześnie porządnie je susząc albo zostawiając do wyschnięcia bez pomocy suszarki, jeśli nie chcecie uszkadzać sobie włosów. Tak czy inaczej, 10 minut i z głowy :)

Today’s post will be short and straight to the point. It’s Dorota who is a pro when it comes to hair care but I’ll surprise you guys today and it’ll be me who’ll write something about it. Some time ago I decided to try the Sea Salt Texturing Spray by Toni & Guy (okay, Dorota recommended it to me but I’m writing the post, okay?). This precious thing is supposed to make our hair look the way it looks on the beach: touched by the sun, the wind and the sea. And it does. I usually use it when I have the so called bad hair day. After applying the product, I still have the bad hair day but better looking and more under control. I like such disorderly hairstyles so the result that we get after using this sea salt is pretty satisfying for me. I recommend it especially for those days when we have no time for hair rollers, hair brushes and straighteners and we still want to look good. Just dry your hair a little bit, spritz the sea salt all over your head and dry it working through to create the waves at the same time. You can also choose to let it air dry if you don’t want to damage it with the hair dryer . Quick and simple :)

Fink

Po raz pierwszy usłyszałam o Finku na początku tego roku. Przykuł on moją uwagę, ponieważ jest to zupełnie inny zespół. A jak wiadomo, w dzisiejszych czasach trudno znaleźć wyróżniających się muzyków. 

Fink jest piosenkarzem, tekściarzem, gitarzystą, producentem i DJ’em z Kornwalii. O dziwo zaczął swoją karierę jako producent muzyki elektronicznej, jednak w 2006 roku dołączył do niego Guy Whittaker (basista) oraz Tim Thornton (perkusista) tworząc alternatywny zespół o nazwie Fink. Od tamtej pory nagrali oni już pięć albumów, z czego najbardziej znanym jest ten najnowszy, o tytule Hard Believer. Trudno w jakikolwiek sposób zaszufladkować muzykę Fink. Powiedziałabym, że jest to mieszanka bluesa, folku, indie oraz klasycznego rocka co razem daje zupełnie świeży i nowy dźwięk.

Dobra wiadomość dla wszystkich ludzi przebywających w lutym w Polsce, ponieważ wtedy Fink będzie grał w Krakowie, Łodzi, Poznaniu i Gdańsku. Mam nadzieję, że się tam zobaczymy!

I heard about Fink for the first time at the beginning of the year. He caught my attention because it's something totally different. And in our times it's a bit difficult to find something completely outstanding. 

Fink is a singer, songwriter, guitarist, producer and DJ from Cornwall. Surprisingly, he started by producing electronic music but in 2006 Guy Whittaker (bass) and Tim Thornton (drums) joined him to create the alternative band called Fink. Since then they recorded five albums but the most famous one is the latest one called Hard Believer. It's hard to put Fink's music into one genre box. I'd say it's a mixture of blues, folk, indie and classic rock which gives a nice, fresh and new sound. 

Good news for everyone who happen to be in Poland in February as at that time Fink will be playing shows in Kraków, Łódź, Poznań and Gdańsk. Hope to see you there!

Coffee Saturdays: Matras cafe

Dziś powiem Wam co nieco o nietypowej kawiarni, a mianowicie o kawiarni Matras. Nie wiem, ile z Was zdecydowało się napić tam kawy, ale te które to zrobiły na pewno są pozytywnie zaskoczone. Sam pomysł łączenia księgarni z kawiarnią jest jak dla mnie świetny i cieszę się, że coraz więcej miejsc decyduje się na taką kombinację. W końcu niewiele jest rzeczy tak przyjemnych, jak możliwość przeczytania dobrej książki lub gazety popijając przepyszne cappuccino. Kawiarnie Matras są fajne, bo jest ich sporo, oferują coraz szerszy wybór  napojów (kawy, herbaty, czekolady, koktajle) w niewysokich cenach i mają dobrze przeszkolony personel (co nie zawsze się zdarza w miejscach, gdzie kawa jest rzeczą ‘drugorzędną’). Poza tym praktycznie cały czas można natrafić na ciekawe promocje i bonusy, takie jak opcja którejś kawy gratis, kawy za 5zł, czy zniżki na grę, książkę albo ciasto przy zakupie jakiegoś napoju. Słowem dobry marketing i dbanie o klienta. Jedyne, co może trochę zniechęcać, to brak klimatycznego wystroju księgarni Matras, ale myślę, że jest to rzecz w tym przypadku drugorzędna. Jeśli jakimś cudem nie dotarłyście jeszcze do tych kawiarni, to polecam wybrać się tam przy najbliższej okazji :)

Today I’m going to tell you something about a rather untypical café, namely cafe Matras.  I don’t know how many of you have already decided to have a cup of coffee there but I’m sure that those who have, are positively surprised. The whole idea of combining a café and a bookshop is awesome in my opinion and I’m more than happy that there are more and more places like that . After all, there are not many things as pleasant as reading a good book or magazine sipping a delicious cappuccino. I like Matras cafés because there are plenty of them, they offer a wide range of beverages (coffee, tea, chocolate, shakes) which are not expensive at all and they have well-trained stuff (which is not always the case in places where coffee is something of a ‘second importance’). Apart from that, you can almost always come across some nice price reduction or a benefit there, ex. you can get every 10^th coffee for free, you can get some coffees for only 5zł, you can get a price reduction on a game, a book or a cookie if you buy a beverage etc. This is what I call a good marketing and taking care of a client. Actually, the only thing that may be a bit discouraging is the lack of the ‘right’ atmosphere in Matras bookshops but I guess it’s not that important in this case. If for some reason you haven’t been to these cafés yet, I recommend you to do it the next time you have a chance :)

October favourities

Skończył się październik, a zaczął listopad, podobno najbardziej ponury miesiąc w roku. Póki co pogoda na to nie wskazuje i niech pozostanie tak jak najdłużej :) Poniżej znajdziecie rzeczy, które podbiły moje serce w październiku.

October has finished and November has arrived- the gloomiest month of the year, they say. So far, the weather has been showing us the opposite and hopefully it will stay this way :) Below you'll find my October favourities.

MAC, Prep + Prime, Transparent Finishing Powder

Jak dla mnie odkrycie tego roku. Ten produkt nie tylko świetnie matuje, (potrafi poradzić sobie nawet z moją problematyczną cerą i sprawić, że wygląda bardzo dobrze przez większą część dnia), ale także jest bardzo, bardzo wydajny. Jest to najlepiej wydane 100zł od długiego czasu.

It's my personal discovery of the year. What I love about this product is the fact that it perfectly mattes your skin (it can even cope with my problematic face and make it look good for the bigger part of the day) and is very efficient. It's definitely money well spent.

No dobra, nie jest ze złota, ale i tak jest świetny i pasuje do prawie wszystkiego.

Okay, it's not golden but it still looks great and it's oh so versatile.

herbata/tea

Te trzy świetne herbaty (czarna, zielona i biała) pochodzą ze Sri Lanki. Poza ciekawą kombinacją smakową (gunpowder green tea, dragon lily white tea i czarna cynamonowa) bardzo podoba mi się to, ze są pakowane w maleńkie pudełeczka, dzięki czemu można je zabrać ze sobą do torebki i wypić w pracy herbatę z prawdziwego zdarzenia :)

These three awesome teat (black, green and white) come from Sri Lanka. Apart from their taste (green: gunpowder, white: dragon lily, black: cinnamon), I love the fact that they sell them in those tiny little boxes so that I can carry them in my bag and drink proper tea at work :)

Life in dots

Zauważyłam, że prawie wszyscy mają w swojej szafie coś w kropki. Ja posiadam sukienkę, którą możecie zobaczyć na zdjęciach. Tak się składa, że jest to moja ulubiona sukienka. Ma idealny kształt i jest bardzo dziewczęca, a do tego można ją wystylizować na milion sposobów. Muszę również dodać, że jestem bardzo dumna z mojego nowego płaszcza. Z reguły znalezienie czegoś wygodnego, niezbyt eleganckiego i wyróżniającego się spośród innych płaszczy zajmuje mi bardzo dużo czasu. Ale tym razem była to miłość od pierwszego wejrzenia. Stwierdzam nawet, że dzięki niemu zaczęłam jeszcze bardziej lubić jesień! 

Odnośnie jesieni, mam nadzieję, że świetnie się bawiliście podczas Halloween!

I noticed that almost everyone has a piece of clothing in dots in their wardrobe. Mine is the dress you can see in the pictures, which happens to be my favourite one. It has this perfect shape and girly look. Plus, you can style it in many ways. Oh and I need to add that I’m super proud of my new coat. It always takes me a lot of time to find the one that is comfortable, not too chic and different from other coats at the same time.  However, this time it was just love at first sight. I could say that thanks to that I started to like Autumn even more!
